Blockchain Event Reveals The Potential Of Crypto In Business

The 1-day conference and expo, aimed at key blockchain players and investors, revealed how industry experts use blockchain technologies in their respective areas of expertise.

Blockchain advisory firm Principal Strategic hosted an inaugural, single-day blockchain conference that connects investors with blockchain specialists from various industries, on November 30, 2018 at Marina Bay Sands. The event attracted more than 100 people and was warmly received.

The past year has witnessed an explosive growth of the blockchain technology. However, the general public is not as aware of this cutting-edge technology as expected, which is why Principal Strategic chose to hold an event to raise the public awareness of blockchain while providing opportunities for investors to connect with blockchain specialists.

Investors and attendees at the conference got the opportunity to find out more about the practical applications of crypto and blockchain technologies in these businesses by participating in roundtable discussions and networking sessions with fellow industry peers.

Keynote speakers shared essential case studies on various effective ways to utilize blockchain technologies across a multitude of industries such as finance, healthcare, logistics and energy, among others.

Guest speakers included Naoki Takayama and Takeshi Inoue from Good Luck 3 Inc., a Japan-based game developing company that has created products for popular characters such as the Gudetama mascot and Sanrio’s My Melody. Naoki Takayama, Good Luck 3 Inc.’s CFO, brings a wealth of experience in investment banking with previous stints in Goldman Sachs Japan and Merrill Lynch Japan, while Director of Business Development Takeshi Inoue previously managed key M&A projects at DeNA, one of Japan’s largest provider of mobile portal and e-commerce websites.

Next on the speaker roster was Kazuya Aoyama, Chairman and Founder of World Trip Singapore, an information-sharing platform which enables tourists to get the most “localized” travel experience by connecting with locals in their respective tour destinations. Kazuya Aoyama is a serial business entrepreneur who has independently launched and managed a number of enterprises such as karaoke shops, restaurants and even space projects.

Startup expert-turned-blockchain specialist Mas Hihara discussed on the utilization of blockchain technologies in the healthcare space. With over 30 years of experience in software, telecommunications, internet service provider, hosting and data center industries in Japan, his company, MBF Japan, currently offers advanced bioscience microscopy tools which includes neuron tracing, stereology, brain mapping and 3D reconstruction products among others.

Further guests speakers included venture capital experts including: Ng Yi Ming, Partner at Trive; Janet Lee, CEO of Venture Capital Network Pte Ltd; serial venture capitalist Dr. Rex Yeap; Cheong Siah Chong, COO of Crowd Venture Pte Ltd; as well as blockchain specialists including: Kay Woo, CEO of Singapore-based blockchain-powered ride-hailing service Mass Vehicle Ledger; Hong Qi Yu, CEO/CTO of local digital currency platform Tokenize Exchange; as well as Jason Lam, Chief Strategist at Principal Strategic. Rounding up the list of speakers was Danny Teo, a legal consultant who now focuses on cryptocurrency-related financial advisory.
